Profound Review: AI Visibility Platform Breakdown

by 5 min read

Short answerprofound ai visibility

Profound AI visibility software is built for enterprise marketing teams. It tracks how ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and other answer engines describe and cite your brand, measures AI crawler and referral traffic, and adds AI agents that draft marketing work. As of October 2026 it offers a free seven-day trial and custom-priced enterprise plans, with no published self-serve price.

This review sits under our comparison of AI visibility tools. All facts below come from Profound's own website as checked in October 2026. We describe the product as the vendor presents it; we have not run a paid account.

Profound at a glance

Profound's offer, as of October 2026, is summarized below from its pricing page.

Trial Enterprise
Price Free Custom, via demo
Length 7 days Ongoing
Prompts tracked 50 unique prompts, run daily Custom
Answer engines ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews Up to 9, from a list including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude and Google AI Overviews
Languages and regions 1 and 1 Custom
History, exports, API None Included
Seats Unlimited Unlimited
SSO and compliance No SSO/SAML, SOC 2

The gap between those two columns is the main buying fact. There is no published mid-tier plan for a small team to buy by credit card. You either trial it for a week or talk to sales.

Profound AI visibility features

Profound AI visibility tracking is one module among several. The vendor's homepage lists these products:

  • Answer Engine Insights analyzes how answer engines describe your category and brand, and which sources they cite. This is the core visibility tracker.
  • Prompt Volumes estimates what people ask AI engines, which Profound describes as analysis of "billions of real user conversations." On the trial, this is limited to five searches.
  • Agent Analytics tracks how AI bots crawl your pages and how much AI-referred traffic you get. It connects to hosting and CDN providers including Cloudflare, Akamai, Fastly, AWS, Vercel, Netlify and WordPress, and to Google Analytics. Both plans list unlimited domains for this module.
  • Shopping tracks product visibility in ChatGPT Shopping at the SKU level. It is not included in the trial.
  • AI Marketer and Agents are AI workers that, in Profound's words, "identify the work worth doing, draft it, and ping you for approval" across content, social and PR tasks. They run on credits.
  • Context Manager stores structured brand information that the agents use.

The product has clearly moved from "tracker" toward "tracker plus AI marketing workforce." Whether that is useful depends on your team. If you want clean measurement and plan to do the work yourself, the agent features are surplus. If you want help producing content at volume, they are the point.

Strengths

Profound's strengths are breadth of engine coverage and the depth of data beyond prompt tracking.

  1. Wide engine list. Up to nine answer engines on enterprise plans, covering the major Western engines plus DeepSeek.
  2. Crawler and traffic data. Agent Analytics connects bot activity and AI referrals to specific pages, which most prompt-only trackers cannot do. Seeing whether OAI-SearchBot or PerplexityBot actually fetch a page is useful diagnostic data, since engines can only cite what they retrieve.
  3. Commerce coverage. SKU-level ChatGPT Shopping tracking matters for retailers and is still uncommon.
  4. Enterprise controls. SSO/SAML, SOC 2, API access and full data history are listed on the enterprise plan.
  5. Unlimited seats on both plans, so you do not pay per viewer.

Profound's homepage also shows customer results, for example a stated "50% increase in Plaid's AI Search visibility." These are vendor-reported case studies. They are worth reading, but they are not independent evidence.

Limitations

Profound's main limitations are price transparency and fit for small teams.

  • No public price beyond the trial. You cannot compare cost per prompt with other tools without a sales call.
  • The trial is narrow. Three engines, one language, one region, no history or exports. It shows the interface but not the full product, and seven days is too short to see trends in AI answers, which vary run to run.
  • Feature weight. Agents, credits, and several modules add learning time. Teams that only need a mention tracker may find it more than they need.
  • The same caveat as every tracker. Profound reports what engines said for the prompts you chose. It cannot tell you exactly why an engine chose a source, because no engine publishes its selection rules.

Who Profound fits

Profound fits large brands and enterprise marketing teams that want AI visibility data, AI crawler analytics and AI-assisted content production in one contract, and that have budget for a sales-led purchase.

It fits less well if you are a small team wanting a self-serve tracker at a known monthly price. Tools with published plans, such as the one in our Peec AI review, are easier to trial and compare. For a side-by-side view of enterprise and mid-market options, see our AI visibility platforms comparison.

Before buying any platform, it helps to run a manual baseline first. Our guide on how to track AI brand mentions shows how to do it with a spreadsheet, so you can judge whether a tool's numbers match reality.

Frequently asked questions

What is Profound AI visibility?

Profound AI visibility refers to Profound's platform for tracking how answer engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews describe and cite a brand. Its core module, Answer Engine Insights, runs prompts across engines and reports mentions and sources. The platform also includes AI crawler analytics, prompt volume estimates, shopping tracking and AI marketing agents.

How much does Profound cost?

As of October 2026, Profound's pricing page lists two options: a free trial running 50 prompts daily for seven days across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and an Enterprise plan with custom pricing available through a demo. No self-serve paid plan with a published price is listed, so you need a sales conversation to get a quote.

Which AI engines does Profound track?

As of October 2026, the trial covers ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. The Enterprise plan lists up to nine answer engines, chosen from a list that includes ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude and Google AI Overviews. Check the pricing page for the current list, since vendors add engines often.

Is Profound worth it for small businesses?

Profound is aimed at enterprise teams, with custom pricing and features like SSO, API access and AI marketing agents. A small business that mainly needs to know whether AI engines mention it will likely get better value from a tool with a published self-serve plan, or from a manual prompt-tracking routine run in a spreadsheet each month.

What is Profound Agent Analytics?

Agent Analytics is Profound's module for tracking how AI bots crawl your website and how much traffic AI engines refer to it. It connects to providers such as Cloudflare, Akamai, Fastly, AWS, Vercel and Google Analytics. As of October 2026, the pricing page lists unlimited domains for Agent Analytics on both the trial and Enterprise plans.
