Ranking is one job. Being quoted is another.
Classic SEO asks whether a search engine can crawl a page, understand it and rank it. That still matters. ChatGPT search, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews all lean on a web index, so a page that can't be crawled or ranked rarely makes it into an answer.
AI search adds questions classic audits skip. Is your site open to GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot, or is a firewall rule turning them away? Is your main content in the HTML, or does it only appear after JavaScript runs? Does a model know your brand is a company with a category and a website, not just a word?
