freeWebsite History

See a website's history, month by month.

Enter a page or a domain. We read the Wayback Machine's index and show when it was first archived, how often, every time the content changed, and when it started redirecting or disappeared.

What it shows

Twenty years of a page, on one screen.

The Wayback Machine's web interface is built for opening one snapshot at a time. Its index, though, knows the date, status code and a content fingerprint of every capture. We pull one capture per day and summarise it.

  1. 1First and latest capture

When the archive first saw the page and its most recent snapshot.

  2. 2Monthly heatmap

How many days each month had a capture, laid out year by year like a contribution calendar.

  3. 3Content changes

Every capture whose content differs from the one before, each linked to the snapshot.

  4. 4Status changes

When the page started redirecting, returning errors or came back, ignoring one-month blips.

Using it

What a page's past tells you.

Diagnosing a traffic drop. Line the drop up with the content changes. If rankings fell the month a page was rewritten or started redirecting, open the snapshots either side and compare what was removed: headings, internal links, the paragraph that used to answer the query.

Buying a domain or a site. Check what it hosted before. A domain that spent three years as a casino affiliate or a parked page carries that history in its backlinks. Compare the first capture with the registration date from our domain age checker; a gap often means it lapsed and was re-registered.

Recovering lost content. Old URLs that now 404 often still have links pointing at them. Find the last good snapshot, restore the content, or 301 the URL to its closest live equivalent. The redirect checker confirms the redirect works.

For AI search, stable, long-lived URLs matter. AI assistants and their training data reference pages as they were when crawled, and a page that keeps its address and keeps its core answer accumulates citations instead of resetting them with every redesign.
