freeOpen Graph Preview

Check your link preview before you share it.

Paste a URL. We read its Open Graph and Twitter tags, download the share image to check its size, and draw the card the way X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Slack, Discord and WhatsApp lay it out.

What we check

Tags, then the image itself.

Most Open Graph checkers stop at whether the tags exist. The image is where things actually go wrong, so we fetch it the way a platform's scraper would and read its real dimensions from the file.

  1. 1og:title and og:description

Present, and short enough to fit a card. Fallbacks to <title> and meta description are shown.

  2. 2og:image

Absolute URL, loads without a login or hotlink block, a real image type, not an SVG.

  3. 3Image size and shape

1200 × 630 at 1.91:1 is the target. We flag tiny, oversized and oddly shaped images.

  4. 4twitter:card

A valid value, and summary_large_image if you want the big card on X.

  5. 5og:url, og:type, og:site_name

So shares are grouped under one URL and labelled with your name.

  6. 6Alt text

og:image:alt is read aloud by screen readers on X and LinkedIn.

Fixing it

A good card in four tags.

You need og:title, og:description, og:image and twitter:card. Everything else is polish. The tool writes the full block for you with whatever's missing filled in; copy it into your page's <head> and replace the placeholders.

Design the image for cropping. X and LinkedIn show it at 1.91:1, but WhatsApp and the small X card crop it to a square from the centre. Keep the headline and logo in the middle third and it survives every layout.

Use a JPG or PNG. SVG doesn't work as a share image anywhere that matters. WebP works on most platforms now, but PNG and JPG work on all of them. For photos and screenshots on the page itself, the Image SEO Audit checks formats and sizes.

Beyond social

The same tags travel further.

Chat apps, email clients, note-taking tools and many AI assistants that show link cards read Open Graph tags, because they're the one summary of a page that its owner wrote on purpose. A clean card makes a shared or cited link look like something worth opening. For the search result itself, use the SERP Snippet Preview.
