What you get

A word count with opinions held loosely.

Keyword density is an old metric, and most of its folklore is wrong. It's still useful for one thing: seeing your page the way a frequency count sees it. If the top phrases aren't the topic you think you wrote about, the page probably isn't as focused as you think.

  1. 1Top words and phrases

1, 2 and 3-word phrases with count, density and a bar. Copy any table as CSV.

  2. 2Stopword toggle

Hide filler words, or keep them to see the raw count.

  3. 3Target keyword

Its count and density, highlighted in the tables.

  4. 4Placement

Title, H1, meta description, URL, first 100 words, subheadings and image alt text.

How to use it

Look for gaps, not percentages.

Your topic is missing from the top phrases. Common on pages written around a brand name or a clever headline. Say the thing plainly: if the page is about payroll software, the words “payroll software” should appear in the title, the H1 and the opening paragraph.

One word towers over everything else. Read those paragraphs out loud. If the repetition sounds forced, use a pronoun or a more specific phrase. Google's spam policies call out keyword stuffing explicitly.

Placement looks thin. A keyword that appears only in body copy is easy to miss for skimmers and crawlers alike. Check how the title and description look in results with the SERP Snippet Preview.

AI search

AI answers match meaning, not counts.

Language models don't count keywords. They match the meaning of a question to passages that answer it. Exact-match repetition does little there; clear, specific sentences that name the topic do. A page about “payroll software” that never names the problems it solves is hard to match to the question someone actually asks.

So use this tool to check focus, then check how quotable the page is with the Answer-Ready Content Checker, and how easy it is to read with the Readability Checker.
