freeSchema Markup Generator
A schema markup generator that checks its own work.
Pick a type, fill in what you know, and copy JSON-LD. Missing required and recommended fields are flagged as you type, and drafts stay in your browser.
Organization
Who runs the site. Goes on the homepage.
At least 112×112px, on a plain background.
Official profiles (sameAs)
Wikidata, Wikipedia, LinkedIn and Crunchbase links help AI models recognise the entity as you.
<script type="application/ld+json">
{
"@context": "https://schema.org",
"@type": "Organization"
}</script>
1 required · 4 recommended
- name · missing (required)
- url · missing (recommended)
- logo · missing (recommended)
- sameAs · missing (recommended)
- description · missing (recommended)
Paste it into the page's <head> or body, then run the live page through the Structured Data Checker. Drafts are saved in this browser.
Which type goes where
Eleven types, and the page each one belongs on.
Structured data should describe the page it sits on. Marking up things a visitor can't see is against Google's guidelines and can cost you rich results. A rough map:
1Organization
Homepage or about page. Name, logo, url and sameAs links to your official profiles.
2LocalBusiness
Instead of Organization for a place people visit. Address, phone, hours and coordinates.
3WebSite
Homepage only. Google uses it to choose the site name it shows above your results.
4Article
Blog posts and news. Author with a profile URL, published and updated dates, an image.
5Product
One product per page. Needs an Offer with price and currency, or reviews, to qualify.
6FAQPage
Questions and answers that are visible on the page, word for word.
7BreadcrumbList
Inner pages. Replaces the raw URL in results with a readable trail.
8Person, Event, Software, HowTo
Author bios, dated events, apps with ratings, and step-by-step guides.
Adding it
Paste, publish, then check the live page.
Copy the <script type="application/ld+json"> block into your page template. In WordPress, Webflow or Shopify that's usually a custom code field in the page or theme settings. In a React or Next.js app, render it as a script tag on the server so it's in the first HTML response.
Dates need to be ISO 8601. The generator converts date and time inputs to that format and adds your timezone offset, so 2026-03-14T09:00:00+01:00 rather than “March 14”. URLs need to be absolute, starting with https://.
Once it's live, run the URL through the Structured Data Checker. It reads what your server actually sends, catches JSON that won't parse, and tells you if a plugin added a second, conflicting copy. Valid markup makes a page eligible for rich results; Google still decides whether to show them.
Schema and AI search
Schema tells machines who you are.
AI assistants have to decide which company a page is about before they can recommend it. The sameAs list is the most useful property for that: links to your Wikidata item, Wikipedia article, LinkedIn page and Crunchbase profile tie your site to an entity the model already knows. Use the Brand Entity Checker to find those URLs.
Keep the markup honest and in sync with the page. A price in your schema that disagrees with the price on the page is a reason for any system to trust neither. And structured data is a clarity signal, not a citation guarantee: what gets quoted is still the content itself.
