Best LLM SEO Tools (Tracking, Testing, Content)
by the AEO GEO Labs team5 min read
The best LLM SEO tool depends on which job you need done. Tracking tools such as Profound, Peec AI, Otterly.AI, Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit and Ahrefs Brand Radar measure how AI engines mention you. Testing tools check whether AI crawlers can read and quote your pages. Free first-party reports from Bing and Google show the citations and traffic you already get.
LLM SEO, the practice of getting cited by large language models, is explained in our LLM SEO guide. This roundup sorts the tools by the three jobs they do, so you buy for the gap you actually have.
LLM SEO tools compared
This table compares LLM SEO tools by category and coverage, using each vendor's own site as of October 2026. Prices are left out on purpose: they change often and most depend on prompt volume.

LLM SEO tracking tools
LLM SEO tracking tools send a fixed set of prompts to AI engines on a schedule and report whether your brand is named, how it is described, and which URLs are cited. They are the closest thing to rank tracking for AI answers.
- Profound combines tracking with an AI content agent, prompt volume data and analytics on how AI bots crawl your pages. It suits larger teams that want tracking and production in one place.
- Peec AI focuses on prompt tracking, competitor benchmarking and reporting, with CSV exports, Looker Studio and an API.
- Otterly.AI pairs monitoring with prompt research and a content audit that checks crawlability and citation potential.
- Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit adds visibility, competitor, prompt research and brand performance reports, per Semrush's knowledge base. Easiest if your team already lives in Semrush.
- Ahrefs Brand Radar tracks brand mentions across AI answers, YouTube and Reddit. As of October 2026, Ahrefs says custom prompts are included with paid plans from Lite up, while its large AI Visibility Index is a separate paid add-on.
Every tracker samples answers, and AI answers change between runs, by location and by account. Read the output as trend lines across many prompts. Our AI visibility tools roundup goes deeper on how each one measures.
Our view: pick a tracker by the prompts you can afford to track, not the number of engines on the homepage. Fifty well-chosen buyer questions beat five hundred generic ones.
Free first-party data most teams ignore
The most reliable LLM SEO data is free and comes from the platforms themselves. Two sources are worth setting up before buying anything:
- Bing Webmaster Tools AI Performance. Microsoft launched this report in public preview on 10 February 2026. It shows how often your content is cited across Microsoft Copilot, AI-generated summaries in Bing and select partner integrations, plus the "grounding queries" the AI used to retrieve your pages. It is the only first-party citation report from a major engine we know of as of October 2026.
- Google Search Console. Google's documentation on AI features says traffic from AI Overviews and AI Mode is counted in the Performance report under the "Web" search type. It is not separated out, so you see the total, not the AI share.
Add analytics on top: segment referral traffic from chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, gemini.google.com and copilot.microsoft.com to see which engines send visits.
LLM SEO testing tools
LLM SEO testing tools check a single page or site for the problems that stop AI engines using it: blocked crawlers, content that only exists after JavaScript runs, missing structured data and passages too vague to quote. Trackers tell you that you are missing; testers often tell you why.
Two free options on this site: the AI Visibility Grader scores a URL on crawler access, JavaScript readability, answer-ready content, structured data and brand entity signals, and the LLM SEO checker guide explains how to test a single page step by step.
Content tools for LLM SEO
Content tools for LLM SEO help produce pages AI engines want to cite, and this is the weakest category. Several trackers, Profound among them, now bundle content features, and general AI writers draft quickly. None can supply what makes a page citable: original data, firsthand experience and clear, sourced claims. The GEO research paper by Aggarwal and colleagues found that adding citations, quotations and statistics raised visibility in generative engine answers by up to 40% in its benchmark. Those are editorial choices, not features. For ChatGPT-specific drafting tools, see the ChatGPT SEO tools roundup.
Frequently asked questions
What is an LLM SEO tool?
An LLM SEO tool is software that helps a brand get mentioned and cited in answers from large language models such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude. Most fall into three groups: trackers that measure mentions across AI engines, testers that check whether pages are crawlable and quotable, and content tools that help write citable pages.
Do I need a paid LLM SEO tool?
You do not need a paid LLM SEO tool to start. Bing Webmaster Tools, Google Search Console, analytics referral data and manual prompt checks in fresh chats cover a lot. A paid tracker becomes worth it once you track more than a few dozen questions, across several engines and competitors, every month.
Which LLM SEO tool tracks the most AI engines?
As of October 2026, Profound, Otterly.AI and Ahrefs Brand Radar each list six or seven AI engines on their own sites, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Claude. Engine count matters less than whether a tool covers the engines your buyers use and lets you track the specific questions they ask.
How accurate are AI visibility trackers?
AI visibility trackers are directionally useful but not exact. AI engines give different answers to the same prompt across runs, locations and accounts, and trackers sample those answers. Treat a tracker's score as a trend across many prompts over weeks. A single answer moving up or down tells you very little.
